Ceduna to Port Lincoln

Friday 13th 190km

Ceduna to Talia caves

Surprisingly little wind until early afternoon. Blue day, no shoulder but I’m on a secondary road so the traffic is much lighter.

Pretty coastline viewed occasionally.

The wind arrived with a vengeance – straight on the nose at a strength which thwarted any aspirations of reaching Port Lincoln.

Wild camping tonight

To port Lincoln

Was going to have a zero day based on the bolshy SE wind predicted on last nights forecast but the forecast this morning was for lighter breezes. The warmshower hosts at Port Lincoln had invited me to join them at a live music event this afternoon so onward I journeyed. Yesterday’s forecast was more accurate with strong quartering head/crosswind – very unpleasant. Battled through and rewarded myself with pain au Chocolat when I reached PL.

The afternoon gig with the Gypsy Collective was fantastic, Peter was on the button box with Harmonica, Banjo, Guitar, Bass Ukelele and a lead singer.

I’m looking forward to exploring PL and finding out about a ferry that crosses from Cowell to Wallaroo before moving on Tuesday again.

The Gypsy gig looked interesting and gentle. Nice being by the ocean and the ferry crossing should be a pleasant change.
