Riding the bike on long stretches with little change in the landscape gives plenty of time for thought. By the time I got to Broome it became clear what I was valuing from the journey and what was not important or made little sense with the gear I am encumbered with.
Heading to SE Asia everything I hear seems wonderful if you are backpacking but sounds very difficult with a large, slow, ungainly and expensive solar bike. I have become enamored by the route David and Regula came via – Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, Russia then ferry from Vladivostok to Korea. For me to do this in the reverse direction means two things – I need to be in Vladivostok end of May AND I need to sort Visa’s and plan logistics well beforehand. SO…
I now plan to ride to Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne then fly back to NZ October/November. I have mods to the bike that I would like to make as well as planning the Mongolian leg.

Looks like we will catchup soon than expected. Enjoy the ride.
