Katherine to Darwin

Thursday: 90km today to Pussy Cat Flat and feeling that it was enough after the months sojourn in Katherine.

I keep going over why the solar system isn’t working, it only has 3 components – panels which are ok, batteries which are fine and brand new charge controllers between them (and the wiring connecting them together). Hopefully all will be revealed when I find someone competent using a multi-meter.

Friday: 120km to Coomalie

Was sipping on the batteries today and finished the day on E (my own battery was on E as well). This place is a church camp and unfortunately for me had a men’s camp from the C3 church in residence so there was a bit of negotiation needed before I could set up camp. Once accepted I was given a rice risotto and chicken something. I accepted without question their fantastic hospitality and have picked all the flesh out of the risotto. Will find somewhere for the chicken when the place quietens down. Subsequently… was called down for dinner and joined them for the bonfire where they shared stories which were interesting. An electrician amongst them rustled up an extension cord so the bike is getting charged as well – yay 😄

The road was a bit of a pain with narrow rocky shoulders for quite some distance so diving off for army vehicles and road trains proved exciting. Some sections had wide sealed shoulders thank goodness.
